As an editor, I get to cover a lot of things. New businesses opening, fires in the area, school functions, village government.

I've covered plenty of sweet, emotional stories in the area, gotten to shake hands and help with service projects. But this one right here, getting to cover the homecoming of a soldier who has served two tours, one in Iraq and just got home from one in Afghanistan, was just beyond words.

This is SPC "Charlie" Aguirre, a local veteran in my area. There are so many things these soldiers give for us without ever asking for anything in return, so many sacrifices they make so we can be safe.

Please keep veterans like Charlie in your thoughts, as well as all of other other men and women still serving and hope that they too have a homecoming like this.
